Remote Monitoring and Control Solutions for Critical Infrastructure

Protexis designs, builds, installs, and monitors satellite and cellular IoT systems for industries that operate in remote and harsh environments. We provide end-to-end solutions — from custom hardware configuration to 24/7 alert monitoring — so our clients maintain visibility and control over assets that are difficult or dangerous to reach.

Oil and Gas

Industries We Serve

Wellhead monitoring, pipeline surveillance, compressor station oversight, tank level tracking, and remote production reporting. Our process controls hardware operates across the temperature, vibration, and power conditions found at upstream and midstream production sites.

Water Resources and Dam Safety

Reservoir water level monitoring, structural sensor integration, emergency action plan automation, downstream early warning activation, and regulatory compliance reporting. We serve state agencies, federal land management organizations, and local soil and water conservation districts.

Water and Wastewater

How We Work

Protexis is a full-service provider. We do not simply sell hardware or software — we design the monitoring solution, configure the hardware, install it in the field, commission the system, and monitor it around the clock. Our clients get a single point of accountability from project scoping through ongoing operations.

What We Do

  • Protexis deploys satellite and cellular IoT monitoring systems that deliver real-time data from remote field assets. Our Protexis Monitoring Unit (PMU) product line supports 18 hardware configurations across three ORBCOMM terminal platforms — the ST6100, ST9100, and ST9101 — with application-specific builds for water resources, process controls, and general-purpose monitoring. Every ST91XX unit operates on dual-mode satellite and cellular connectivity, ensuring reliable data transmission from locations with no existing communications infrastructure.

  • Protexis provides automated dam and reservoir monitoring systems that measure water levels, track environmental conditions, and trigger multi-level emergency alerts. Our water resources configurations integrate submersible pressure sensors, solar power systems, and satellite communication to deliver continuous monitoring at sites that are often miles from the nearest road or power line. These systems support regulatory compliance, emergency action plan automation, and downstream warning activation for state agencies, federal land management organizations, and local conservation districts.

  • Protexis has deep experience in PLC programming, control panel engineering, and SCADA system integration for industrial operations. Our process controls hardware configurations support up to 10 monitored ports with RS-485 MODBUS and RS-232 communication, 4-20mA current loop inputs, and digital I/O — covering the sensor types and protocols used across oil and gas production, water treatment, and manufacturing facilities.

  • We design and build custom monitoring hardware in-house, including PCB baseboards and terminal block interface assemblies tailored to specific deployment requirements. Our PMU model system lets us match the right terminal, interface type, and application configuration to each site — whether that means a cost-optimized 4-port unit for a basic monitoring application or a full 10-port advanced terminal for a complex process control environment.

  • Protexis handles the full field deployment process: site survey, equipment installation, sensor calibration, modem activation, and system commissioning. We install in environments ranging from remote mountain terrain to active oil and gas production facilities, and we commission every unit to confirm live data transmission before leaving the site.

  • All Protexis-monitored sites are backed by around-the-clock alert monitoring with automated call center escalation. Our platform generates machine-to-machine automation rules, multi-level alert thresholds, and configurable notification chains so that critical events reach the right people without delay.

Hardware and Connectivity

Protexis Monitoring Units (PMU)

Our PMU product line provides 18 validated hardware configurations built on three ORBCOMM terminal platforms:

ST6100 — (Legacy) 4-port entry-level terminal for basic monitoring applications

ST9100 — (legacy) 10-port standard terminal for mid-complexity deployments

ST9100 — 10-port advanced terminal with extended I/O and SIN 35/36 support

Each PMU is configured with one of two interface types — PCB baseboard for integrated installations or terminal block for field-serviceable connections — and one of three application packages: Water Resources (WR), Process Controls (PC), or General Purpose (GEN).

Dual-Mode Connectivity

Every Protexis deployment uses ORBCOMM dual-mode satellite and cellular communication. Satellite provides global coverage with no infrastructure requirements. Cellular provides higher-bandwidth data paths where coverage exists. The dual-mode architecture ensures that monitoring data gets through even when one communication path is unavailable.

Environmental Specifications

Our hardware operates in temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C, carries IP67 environmental protection ratings, accepts 9–32V DC power input, and supports solar-powered configurations for sites with no grid power.Reservoir water level monitoring, structural sensor integration, emergency action plan automation, downstream early warning activation, and regulatory compliance reporting. We serve state agencies, federal land management organizations, and local soil and water conservation districts.
