Early warning systems for dams and remote infrastructure
Protexis designs, builds, installs and monitors satellite and cellular monitoring systems for dam safety programs and hard-to-reach assets. When water rises past an action level, the right people are notified by text, email and a 24/7 call center — even where there is no cell coverage.
Built for dam safety programs
USDA Forest Service units, Soil and Water Conservation Districts and municipal water managers rely on Protexis to design, install and service early warning systems that watch reservoir level around the clock and automate emergency action plan notifications. Protexis also services and migrates legacy SatAlarm satellite monitoring units.
How it works
A Protexis Monitoring Unit (PMU) reads the water-level sensor at the dam and reports over dual-path ORBCOMM satellite and cellular connectivity. The PMU line spans 18 configurations on ST6100, ST9100 and ST9101 terminals, rated -40 °C to +85 °C, IP67, 9–32 V DC. Alerts escalate through multi-level notification lists by text, email and call center.
One accountable provider
Protexis engineers design the hardware, install and commission it in the field, and monitor it afterward. Headquartered in Prairieville, Louisiana, with installations across 13 states. Also serving oil and gas, water and wastewater, agriculture and public infrastructure.
